A murder investigation has been launched after a baby girl and a three-year-old boy have both died in a horrific east London knife attack this evening.
Police were called at 5.30pm today to reports of a man and two children injured at a home on Aldborough Road North in Ilford, east London.
A one-year old girl was pronounced dead at the scene from knife injuries.
The second child, a three-year-old boy, was taken to a major trauma centre with as a 'priority for treatment' but has subsequently died.
A 40-year-old man was also taken to hospital, his condition remains unknown.

Police confirmed that all three people suffered knife injuries.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: 'Officers, London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended.

London's Air Ambulance was sent along with three ambulance crews, two medics in fast response cars, an advanced paramedic and two incident response officers after being called at 5.41pm to reports of a stabbing.
Jas Athwal, Leader of Redbridge Council expressed his sadness at the incident, saying his thoughts were with the victim’s family during this ‘unspeakable tragedy’.
‘Earlier today there was an incident in Ilford. Two young children have passed away & an investigation is ongoing,’ he said.


‘My thoughts are with the family and wider community who are grieving this unspeakable tragedy.
‘I am in contact with the police who are doing all they can to bring the investigation to a resolution.
‘We ask that everyone please respects the family's privacy at this difficult time.’
Homicide detectives from Specialist Crime investigate have now taken over the case as enquiries into the circumstances continue.
