A devastated mother has revealed how her husband asked her for an 'open marriage' so that he can sleep with other women while she looks after their two children.

The British woman, 30, who did not give her name, explained her husband wants to rent out a second flat where he can stay and see his 'girlfriends' during the working week before returning to the family home for weekends with her and their children.

Writing on Mumsnet, the woman, who gave birth to their youngest child just a month ago, said her husband approached her with the idea recently, in the middle of the lockdown that means she has no choice but to continue living with him.

As part of the proposed arrangement, the husband would agree 'not to form emotional connections' with his 'girlfriends'; to 'prioritise' his wife and children and would give 'permission' to his wife to see other men - but not to sleep with them.

The devastated woman ended the post by explaining that she is torn between not wanting to give up on her marriage and being left heartbroken by her husband's desire to sleep with other women.

She continued: 'I am gobsmacked. I feel like i have been punched in the stomach. I asked him if this was lockdown craziness talking and he told me that he had been wanting to bring this up for a few months.

'He said he wanted to wait until I had given birth to our second child (I did, one month ago). I cannot believe it.

Fellow Mumsnet users were quick to throw their support behind the woman (pictured) and urged her to leave her husband. They said that she deserves better

'I don't know whether to cry and feel completely devastated or if I should seriously consider what he is offering and feel glad that he has been honest... I am all over the place.'

Fellow Mumsnet users were quick to throw their support behind the woman and urged her to leave her husband.

One posted: 'It sounds like he wants out but doesn’t want to be seen as the bad guy so he has suggested this ludicrous option so you’ll break up with him. You should, he’s being so hurtful and disrespectful to you.'

Others pointed out that he wants to 'have his cake and eat it' and said he might have already been unfaithful

Another wrote: 'Run for the hills. He doesn't get to police you, shag around and tell you to put up with it, wash his socks and cook his meals whilst he becomes a walking case of syphilis. I'd tell him we will be divorcing.'

A third added: 'You’ve just given birth and he thinks this is the opportune moment to drop this bombshell on you? Not that there would ever be a good time, but hell, what an unbelievable piece of s**t.

'He has already checked out of this marriage, I can’t see anyway to come back from that. Get on the phone to a solicitor tomorrow and start getting your ducks in a row.'
