We finished the first episode and Eleanor asked for the second one immediately. "I loved it!" she declared. She told me she hoped Xena continued on the path for good, and that she would do that too if she was the warrior princess.
"Yeah, I would want to be like Xena…Being a warrior princess. I want to be royal and fight, but try to get them to learn to be good," she said.
Since she was born, I've been looking forward to introducing Eleanor to my favorite things, to connect with her over the things I held (and still hold) dear from childhood and heroes I've come to appreciate as an adult. I have waited impatiently to introduce her to butt-kicking role models real and fictional, slowly introducing her to the likes of Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman, Star Wars and Ruth Bader Ginsburg via books, toys and kid-appropriate shows.
