He alleged that 50 “killed NYC” not because of his sound or talent, but because of his star power.  “When you are the number one artist, you have leverage that others are not afforded,” he explained. “So I 100 percent think that 50 leveraged his power with the program director at Hot 97 and said, 'if you start playing A , B,C, and D records, you will never get a 50 Cent record.'  And guess what? If you never get another 50 Cent record, that shuts down Interscope… Can Hot 97 afford that? No.”  While it seems unfair, it may be easy for anyone to understand why Fif would want to increase his radio time and celebrity.

50 Cent has not responded to Budden’s recent comments, but that’s probably because he’s prepping for the premiere of his new show 50 Central. The new series is a late-night comedy-sketch show that sort of mimics the format of In Living Color50 Central premieres Sept. 27, on BET at 10:30pm.
