If you’ve been to just about any festival or concert this summer, you’ve seen the magic that happens when Solange takes the stage. But instead of her usual performance art pieces, the singer decided to switch things up a bit at The Hollywood Bowl on Sept. 24. Solange took a knee during her performance in solidarity with ColinKaepernick and other protesters against racism and police brutality.
In a fan video captured during the show, Solange is seen bouncing around as she sings “Don’t Touch My Hair,” a track from her Grammy Award-winning album A Seat at the Table. As she finished the number, she stood up before slowly kneeling. And while the crowd clapped and cheered her own, she sat there and then rose to her feet once again.
